The Dangers and Errors of the Baha’i Faith: Part 2

This article is a continuation of the Dangers of the Baha’i faith. Unlike the Christian Faith the followers of Baha’i have a different understanding of what happens after death. The Christian is appointed to die once and to be at home with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:8

8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. (NASB)

In a general sense the believers will go to Heaven and the unbelievers will go to Hell!

John 5:29

29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment. (NASB)

2 Thessalonians 1:9

9 These will pay the penalty of aeternal destruction, baway from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, (NASB)

The Baha’i’s position on what happens when one dies is as taken from the “Gleanings from the Writing’s Haha’u’llah p. 155:

And now concerning thy question regarding the soul of man and its survival after death. Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty. –

The followers of Baha’i have a nebulous take on Hell. “We don’t worship God because we desire “Heaven” or we fear “hell”. (BAHAITEACHINGS.ORG)

“Worship thou God in such wise that if thy worship lead thee to the fire, no alteration in thine adoration would be produced, and so likewise if thy recompense should be paradise. Thus and thus alone should be the worship which befitteth the one True God. Shouldst thou worship Him because of fear, this would be unseemly in the sanctified Court of His presence, and could not be regarded as an act by thee dedicated to the Oneness of His Being. Or if thy gaze should be on paradise, and thou shouldst worship Him while cherishing such a hope, thou wouldst make God’s creation a partner with Him, notwithstanding the fact that paradise is desired by men. – Selections from the Writings of the Bab, p. 77-78.”

From this writing above, the Baha’i faith seems to deny the fact of Hell in so many words. Written is that the followers need not fear God, which is of course an anti-Christian perspective. We fear God as He is the almighty creator of the Universe and through disobeidience could snuff us out in a second. The fear of God is an uplifting fear!

What Does “Born Again” Mean? One Hint…It Is Not Reincarnation.

The correct Biblical definition of “Born Again” is found in the Book of John 3: 3-10 (HCSB) from the mouth of Jesus:

3 Jesus replied, “I assure you: Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 “But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. 8 The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
9 “How can these things be?” asked Nicodemus.
10 “Are you a teacher of Israel and don’t know these things?”Jesus replied.

The New Testament was translated from the Greek Septuagint and it was written “born from above” and is defined as being regeneration when one becomes a Christian, no longer dead in his sins, no longer spiritually blind and made into a new creature.

Now what “Born Again” does not mean;

The Roman Catholic belief: It means that a transformation occurs when they are water baptized and all their sins are removed and the Grace of God is infused into them.

The Jehovah’s Witness belief: There are only 144000 followers that are born again be with Christ in heaven.

The Mormon belief: Baptism is necessary or they can’t be born again. Being born again, arrives through the “Spirit of God” as a result of ordinances.

Seventh Day Adventists belief: You must be water baptized, a works for salvation position.

The Baha’I belief: Being born again is a “spiritual state” by power coming from the manifestation of God (www.planetbahai.org).

The Eastern Reincarnation belief: (Wikipedia) Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life’s actions.

There are some real issues that throw huge road blocks into this belief for instance, if we are all being recycled (reincarnated)then where are all the babies coming from? As of writing this article there is 7,104,015,836 humans on planet earth (www.geohive.com) Reincarnation states there is no creator God, so where are all these new souls coming from? And where did the first humans originate?

Also something to ponder is; how could any progress in bettering yourself be made without a clear understanding of the past cause of your suffering?

There are many more problems posed by the fictional tale of reincarnation, but I will address them in a separate article.

The Christian belief in NO reincarnation is found in Hebrews 9: 27(HCSB),

27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment

Also Matthew 25: 46(HCSB),

46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

We die ONCE and there is judgment, pretty clear huh?

The Baha’I Faith and the Problems With It: Problem # 2

In the first installment of my article of the Baha’I faith I wrote about problem # 1 of many issues with this religion. Problem # 1 as a refresher was that; The Baha’i faith does not believe that Heaven or Hell are actual “places” that people go to after death. This of course is in contradiction to the Christian Bible. So today I am going to write about the second problem, and that is, the Baha’I belief in salvation.

Problem # 2
The Baha’I’s position of salvation is that the followers do not believe that salvation is a free gift from God. It is a synergistic role between God and man, with God initiating salvation but man must abet in the process. This “process” is not recognized as being a onetime thing.
This problem is the same as problem number 1 as it contradicts what the Bible clearly states. Read:

Romans 6: 22-23 (HCSB)
22 But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification[r]—and the end is eternal life! 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2: 6-10 (HCSB) clearly states that since salvation is a gift from God there is no reason to have to work for it;

6 Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, 7 so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

Since Resurrection Sunday is getting closer and closer my next installment on the problems with the Baha’I faith I will write about their position on the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Baha’i Faith and the Problems with it: Problem # 1

First a brief history of the faith:

Baha’I is a religious system that is found in 188 countries around the world with over 5 million followers today. The founder of this religion was Siyyid ‘Ali-Muhammad, aka “Bab” which is Arabic for the word “Gate”. He declared that he was the bearer of this divine revelation in the year 1844. His main teaching was that there was going to be a second messenger of God greater than him, “Bab”. This second messenger was to bring about an age of “peace and justice” that all other religions have failed to produce.

The believed to be second messenger was Baha’u’llah, who was born to a wealthy family in Persia (now know as Iran) in the 19th century. He spent most of his days helping the down trodden and living a life that was thought to be set apart. While imprisoned in Tehran in the year 1852 he claimed to have a vision of God, showing the creator’s will for mankind. God apparently told him that he was the “Bab” that was foretold. This was also know to the followers now that he was the latest prophet (manifestation of God) in the lines of Moses, Jesus, Abraham, Buddha, Muhammad et al.

Baha’u’llah was jailed for over 40 years. In that time that he was in prison he wrote over 100 volumes of the religious writings that the Baha’i believers still follow today. Baha’u’llah died in Palestine in the year 1892.

So that is a brief history on this false faith, and I will now deal with several problems with this faith and its false doctrines.

Problem # 1

The Baha’i faith does not believe that Heaven or Hell are actual “places” that people go to after death. The followers believe that the soul makes a journey to different worlds on the way to God. The direction the soul takes depends totally on the efforts of that individual during life. This contradicts what the Bible states on the existence of a place called Heaven, check out 1 Kings 8:27:

“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You, how much less this house which I have built!”

Or Psalms 2: 4:

“He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them.”

The faith also contradicts the evidence written about Hell in the Bible, check out Matthew 13: 41-42:

“The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will throw them into the furnace of fire, in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Or Matthew 25: 41:

“Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.’”

In my next article I will deal with the Baha’i’s problem with their synergistic position on Salvation.
