Pride, Self Esteem And “Your Best Life Now” Think About It

I was just wondering what the world would be like if we kept our tongues from wagging when we shouldn’t? Pride seems like a permanent fixture in the hearts of people, even Christians. Self-esteem is a huge problem. Today with all the “Self-Help” and “Your Best Life Today” publications, what would the world be like if we loved our neighbors and enemies as we love ourselves and stop focusing on ourselves? Gossip seems to creep into our daily lives like a slow leak that builds into a flood.
James 3: 1-12 sums it all up. This is especially directed to my fellow Christian Apologists:

Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curs, human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Terminology Tuesday: Docetism

This is an ancient heresy stating that Jesus Christ was really a spirit being and only “appearing” to be a man.

1 John 4: 2-3 has the apostle Paul refuting this heresy: “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.”

Should Christians Openly Say That They Are Praying For Someone?

When someone says “I will pray for you” or “I will pray for that person” is that Biblical?
Often James 5: 14-16 is taken as we are to pray openly as the scripture reads;
14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Notice that it reads “Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;”
This clearly the “elders” of the Church are requested to pray over the sick. There is a big difference between that and “stating” that “you” will pray for the sick. We are to pray for the sick individually as Christians in private. Any way else is boasting. Read the following scripture;

Matthew 6: 1-8 (NASB)
6 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise, you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and the streets so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you; they have their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving will be in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
5 “When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you; they have their reward in full. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

In James 5: 16 it reads “16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.”
That does not say to pray publicly. Pray in fellowship, in private and from your heart.

Terminology Tuesday: Worldview

Everyone has a worldview. A worldview is a certain set of fixed assumptions and beliefs that someone would use to understand the world they live in. A good example of a worldview would be questions like “What is my purpose in life”? Or, “Does God exist”? “Did we arrive here through evolution or did God create us”?

Whether or not an atheist wants to admit it, “atheism” is a worldview.

CHRISTMAS AND THE ATTACK ON CHRISTIANITY

I thought I would re-post this article as I am still reading a lot of utter nonsense about Christmas!

It amazes me on how much can come out of the Miracle of Christmas. How so many people and faiths show their true colors, including the worldview/religion of Atheism and Paganism. The confusion is so deeply rooted that I find that even Christians don’t know what to make of the Holiday. Just recently I was in a room with several atheists (I would presume atheists) that felt it was ok to openly criticize how” stupid” Christians are to celebrate December 25th as that was the birthday of Mithras, and he was born of a virgin…etc. Well, very little research is necessary to see that the “myth” of Mithras is quickly brought into light as a “myth” and all other written myth facts on other mythical beings as stated in the documentary “Zeitgeist” et al. are erroneous and just plain lies from the producers. Mithras was written to be “born out of a stone,” according to that myth. If not bold face lies, then adequate research was not done and was a direct attack on Christianity.

Yes, it is true that the Bible does not tell us to celebrate December 25th as Christ’s birthday and you will likely not find a Theologian that would say that it is. In theory, Christ’s date of birth is thought to have been during the spring harvest. In fact, nowhere in the Bible say we must celebrate it. However, that does not mean we cannot celebrate our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

What has spurned on this article is the brashness of how the Antichrist Atheists and Pagans openly will throw around such vitriol. If I was just to walk into a room and started mocking homosexual’s or racial slurs in a place where I did not know the cultural, religious or racial makeup of the crowd, I could be sued out of my dungarees!

I truly believe that as Christians we should keep our eyes on our Lord Jesus. Why do we as Christians not stand up in allegiance to this onslaught? Is it in our character to let it go? Jesus taught us to love, humility, sacrifice, and forgiveness. How should we respond? “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places,” Eph 6: 12

Peter wrote about the persecution.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. 15 By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; 16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, what will become of the godless man and the sinner? 19 Therefore, let those also who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.” 1 Peter 4: 12-19

We are clearly in the end times. Persecution and yes, MURDER of Christians will exponentially rise as it did in the past. So how are we to handle this? 1 Peter 3: 13-17 says it all.

“And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, 15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 16 and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.”

Christianity is a real threat to their ways of the world. Don’t kid yourself! Keep your eyes on the cross!

Remember to be ready to make a defense to everyone as Peter wrote. Christian Apologist Greg Koukl uses what he coins as “The Columbo Tactic,” that is when confronted by an attack or accusation start by asking the question, “What do you mean by that?” then you can follow up by “How did you reach that conclusion?” After those probing questions, you will find their argument will not hold up, or at least getting them to think, thus dropping a pebble in their shoe.

Remember that Christian Persecution is rampant and that it is as usual open season on Christians. Please remember to pray for the persecutors and always keep Christ your primary focus. As the scripture that Peter wrote:

“And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, 15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts…”

Merry Christmas! Stay on guard! Glorify Christ in all you do! AMEN!

My Third Question To atheists: Do You Feel That atheism Is A Worldview?

Yes – 0
No – 9

Okay, we must first define the definition of “worldview” is; A worldview is propositions, assumptions, and beliefs that someone uses to relate to the world around them. So of course atheism is a worldview. This is a short post. However, it does not deserve to be any longer. Atheists simply have not thought this question out.

Darwinian’s It Is Time To Wake Up And Smell The Coffee!

I recently contacted “Living Waters/The Way Of The Master” and got their permission to present their video ” Evolution Vs. God”. I am well aware of the response from evolutionists, atheists and general God haters with them crying foul, and it was edited to suit the thesis of the video. However, they still cannot show any “observable evidence” for Darwinian Evolution.

Watch the experts like PZ Meyers; Gail E. Kennedy et al. squirm when asked about showing “observable evidence.” PZ Meyers says that humans are fish! Wow, the faith in science is shattering! I feel very sad for these people and the perpetuation of false or bad science. I can see the walls crumbling down! Watch:

Are Christians Supposed To Keep The Sabbath?

We can reference Old Testament scripture that would support keeping the Sabbath, such as;

Exodus 31: 15: 15, For six days work, may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall surely be put to death.

Exodus 23: 12: 12, “Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall cease from labor so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave, as well as your stranger, may refresh themselves.
And, Leviticus 26: 2, 2 You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the Lord.

The Old Testament Law of keeping the Sabbath was paramount, was the moral, ceremonial and legal system for the Jewish people to “stay in favor” with God. Since we have been justified by faith, by Jesus’ atonement we have not entrenched in the Law anymore. And since keeping the Sabbath was part of those laws we do not need to keep the Sabbath anymore.

New Testament Scripture supporting this is:

Colossians 2: 16-17, 16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Romans 5: 1-2, 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 14: 5-6, 5 One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.
