Spiritual Warfare and Division in the Family

If you really want to know if there is a Devil and Demons at work, just profess to be a follower of Jesus Christ to family and friends. And believe me you will notice them all very quickly. It is not for the faint of heart!

Biblically Jesus said in Luke 12: 51-53

51 Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; 52 for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

As you can read by Jesus’ own words that following Christ can and will divide you from your Family!

Why is it that such scripture is seldom taught? Jesus even says in Matthew 10: 36

36 and A MAN’S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.
Even deeper into the scripture it is written in 1 John 3: 12-15
12 not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
13 Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

This scripture is very clear that Gods sheep are “scattered” not only amongst nations but within families as well! So if Gods children are mixed in with non-Christian family members, we must come to the spiritual awareness that if they are not of God who are they of? As Christians we are not meant to hate our family members or anyone for that matter, but Love them. I have read somewhere that a family divided is the Devils Playground. Does it have to be? As we can see from the above scripture 1 John 3: 13-15 that Gods children do not run in the family! It is not genetic.

What does God say to those families? God simply by scripture states that he does not want to save entire families. Jesus said in Matthew 10: 21-22

21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22 You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

We must as a soldier for Christ stand up to the injustices in this world be picking up Christ’s cross and following his word by action! Scripture tells us to love our enemies (unbelievers) which ultimately might be your own family members! We must pray for them to see the truth.

Not too long ago I could see my regeneration start to happen. I was watching a television show with a friend, and I used to think it was “entertaining” and “funny”…I was disgusted beyond belief! I then started to scoff at it and did not find it too “entertaining” etc. From an Apologetics point of view we must defend the Christian faith! We will soon distinguish between the Wheat and the Tares!
Division will happen! It is scriptural and I leave you with one from 1 Timothy 1: 1-5

1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, 3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; 5 for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

God Bless!

  1. I have found out that someone close to me has been spreading personal information around about me. I ask that God forgives that person…

Thank you Leon! It is tough, but there is no other way! God Bless You!

  3. Hello Brother, It is certainly not always easy to live among or with, non-believers. Perhaps God will use you in some way to bring them to Christ. God Bless.
